How many know?

A winter ride. Warm, until the howling front. Standing there, in this sea of concrete, dust, and steel, strange and primal feelings wash over me as my hackles rise.

Leaving work in the middle of the night…alone. Lonely. Surrounded by the cold, dangerous, and mostly deserted downtown. The moaning winds cutting through the city and slicing even larger gashes in my soul.

Things move, in the dark.

I can taste danger, with the hint of experience…

But it’s not the flavor I seek this night.

Looking inward I fare no better. There are dark and fanged things lurking in the shadows there too.

So I run into the wind. Many hours of The Dragon and I, together in our element. We’re at home here…here we find some peace.

And yet there are threats even here…even for me.

I grin as I meet the first one…and I wonder just how many know…how many truly understand

Just how little you can see…really see…unless you first believe.

Food for thought.

This night was…rich…there will be more stories in their own time.

I’ve wounds to attend.

Daniel Meyer

Often times, the only one who can be expected to understand is one’s self. And even that can be a challenge from time to time.

The dark fanged things lurk everywhere and strike at a whim. The scars left by these beasts in our souls can be deep and heal slowly. Without proper guard, they can be devastating.
