I am going to spend a LOT of money tomorrow.

Gives me the willies!
Wish me luck!

What the Second Amendment is REALLY for..

Watch the whole thing. The last line sums it up very well.

Linky thing

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you’re having a good one. I have to work tonight, but good things are cooking in the ovens and on the stove, and family will be here for lunch. Yum!

Take a moment to pause in the hustle and bustle and ponder just what you’re thankful for.

I’m thankful for my wife, my lover, and my friend (yes, she’s the same person) Carey. My family, my health, and the fact that whatever problems we may have, that I live in the greatest country on the planet.

I’m thankful for my friends…knowing there are people like that gives hope in the darkest hours, and joy in the pleasent times.

I’m thankful for opportunities, and the imagination and “gumption” to pursue them. I’m thankful for the restlessness that drives me, even when it drives me crazy.

I’m thankful for you, my readers, and the privilage of your allowing me to share my experiences with you.

What are you thankful for?

Oh what the hey…it’s only money…

What are we that we always strive? Why is it that we dream? Why do we try…even when we know we could fail?

One week left…lots to do.

More later.

So very cold…

Yeah, okay. I’m an idiot sometimes.

I’m working the evening shift at the moment…going to work around 3:00pm and getting off at about 1:30am or so.

It was 76 degrees when I left for work. I gave a glance at the weather and they indicated that the light northern winds we’d been having were about to turn around and come out of the south and we’d have a warm up.

That indicates absolutely heavenly riding weather…nighttime in Texas…a southern front in the winter…it means warm and balmy. Pure magic.

I rode to work in my shirt sleeves.

The weather report I’d caught a glimpse of was actually for tomorrow night, not last night.

When it was time to ride home it was 42 degrees.

42 degrees in my shirtsleeves and light summer riding gloves. Oh so very cold.

Perhaps I’ll be warm in a day or so.

Y’all take care!

Sooo…can ya mix?

Sooo…I haven’t driven “Big Iron”…the 450 hp 4×4 V-10 Dodge pick-em-up truck very often lately.

I had to pick up a saw today…really didn’t have enough bungee cords to put it in the Valk…so I took the truck.

It only had half a tank of gas so I gassed her up…at $1.85 a gallon.

It occurs to me that the last time I filled it up the fuel cost $4.20/gal.

Since we all know pricey=better (yeah right), I’m wondering…

Ya think it’s okay to mix $1.85 gas with $4.20 gas? Or am I asking for trouble?

Anybody want to buy some of this most excellent $4.20 gas? I’ll sell it for $3.00/gal…

My friends just felt a chill…

Around 3pm this yesterday, I’d expect that my friends…ya know…the ones that owe me favors or just seem to always be there to help…all looked up at the same time, shivered, and said something along the lines of, “I’ve felt a great disturbance in the force…”

See, I’ve a project in mind…and I expect I’ll need a little help. I spent time yesterday getting some of the tools ready for the work…inspecting, lubing, and cleaning them.

Jack it up...

Yep. Those are screw jacks…sometimes known as “railroad jacks” or “house jacks”. Folks that know what they are, or have used them, know that when they come out, that somewhere, sometime, there is a heap of work to be done.

The capacity is based on the screw size. The smallest is 1-1/4″, which is good for about 15 tons. The 2″ are good for 20 tons, and the big ones in the back are 2-1/2″ and good for over 30 tons. The jacks themselves weigh anywhere from 30 pounds for the smallest to 80 pounds or so for each of the two biggest ones. Altogether they weigh something near 400 pounds.

There’s enough jacks there to pick up close to 400,000 pounds…nearly half-a-million pounds.

“What the hell are you planning on jacking up?” says an incredulous neighbor.

I just grinned an evil grin and said, “Anything I want to.”

I’ll keep ya posted!

Less Gimpy

I’m walking without the cane now. Still some pain, still have to be careful how I plant the foot…certain bends or twists of the knee are still out…but definately better. Been going on a couple weeks now…it sure will be nice to be done with it. I’ve got stuff to do!

Strapped the cane on the Valk and VROOM!

In related news, I sent the wife out to get me a heating pad last week. Heat to the knee has been helpful.

The new heating pad has a serious flaw. If left on “high” it will cheerfully (and quickly) burn you (as in damaging burns) before it shuts off. I expect I could get it to burst into flames with little effort.

Guess where it’s made…yep, China. Claims it’s UL listed too. Yeah right.

It does make a handy cat-trap. When I turn it on and put it on my knee, suddenly I also have a 20-pound cat on my knee as well. It’s uncanny. “Click”. Cat. Should be listed as a side-effect!

Veterans Day

Y’all take today to remember just what it is you have …and say thanks to the men and women who have served this great country when they were called on to provide or preserve it.

The flag of the greatest nation on earth.

Y’all rock. Thanks for that.

We the People

It’s been an interesting election season…lots of controversy to go around.

Ya’ll remember…whether your candidate wins or loses today, it’s really not the disaster so many would make it out to be. Our system works, and works better than any other place on earth.

Don’t like how things are going? Work constructively to change them. You’re allowed, and it’s the basis of our system.

It’s about us, not them. It’s about “We the People”.
