And a happy new year to you!

Happy new year!

I hope y’all (that’s a Texas technical term) have a happy, wonderful and prosperous new year!

My only advice?

It doesn’t always come to you.

Go and get it.

This City…

It's waiting...

The city itself…has become a predator.

The Passing of a Rider…

I regret to announce that forum member Jack Williams, known on the forum by his username bearded_one60 passed away unexpectedly last Thursday from complications of pneumonia and a heart attack.

Jack was an active biker and forum participant, rode a Valkyrie, and was from the Dallas area.

Bearded One...

Y’all take a moment to remember him and his family in this holiday season.

And take a moment to remember your loved ones too…

Life’s short…let’s ride.

Know Thyself…

A bit of a crossover post here…I’ve been asked how we found The Old Vic…well, here ya go!

Know Thyself
A tale of how a motorcycle ride, in a completely unexpected way…suddenly took me home.

Accountants and business systems…gone amuck…

I recently had to turn on the gas for our new house…I’ve not had gas service before.

Anyway, I pay bills electronically, so I had to enter my account number…twice.

This utility company has given me a 22-digit account number…base 36 yet (letters and numbers).

That’s 22 digits!
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
What in the world for?

A wild guess at the math indicates to me that with that many digits and just the numbers alone they have at least one-hundred million account numbers available for each and every man, woman, and child that is alive now or has ever lived on the entire planet in our recorded history!

Oh…and to top it all off…I have a seperate nine-digit “customer number” on that account as well…and I need both numbers AND my name and address to talk to them about anything meaningful.

Who designed this thing?

The Old Victorian

Been scarcer on the lists than I usually am…I’ve been sort of anxious and preoccupied since this summer. Now I can say for sure why!

Lookee what I bought!

The Old Victorian

Well…that was her around 1902 anyway.

Here she is now…

As she is now...

She is substantially intact…but needs a LOT of TLC. Sure hope me and the wife are up to the challenge. Maybe we’re not. We’re gonna try anyway.

Packed full of mahagony, massive French and pocket doors, gorgeous fireplace mantles etc….

Massive French and pocket door
(the wife is included in the pic here for scale…that door is nearly 10 feet tall!)

Good heavens…what have I done!

Being a writer as opposed to just an author (authors write to publish, writers write because they have to) I figured since I was going to be writing about the experience anyway (even if only a journal) that I may as well put it out on the web.

More pictures and details here: The Old Victorian. It’s a work in progress of course…and the start of a new adventure for sure!

A lifetime in a moment.

Today is for remembering.

It only takes a moment.

In that moment, many spent a lifetime.
