I got the call this evening that my sister got horse trompled (technical term). She was smashed against a wall and then kicked across the barn.
She has multiple facial fractures and other serious injuries. I haven’t seen her yet but apparently it is quite serious.
This isn’t the first time somebody close to me has been grievously injured by a pet horse. They are not toys…and can’t be managed like a small dog or other house-pet. Even well trained they can be dangerous, and then there’s the flat-mean ones to deal with…
I guess, though…if they make her (and my other family member that’s been trompled) happy then I don’t have much to say about it. It would be a bit hypocritical of me to feel that they shouldn’t mess with them because of the danger…when I’ll never give up riding motorcycles…
But…care to take a guess at which of the two…motorcycles or horses…is more dangerous?
I suppose I’ll know more tomorrow and there’s not much for me to do right now besides worry about her.
If it was up to me though, we’d all have horseburgers at my house tomorrow.
Heard from my sister…still serious but not nearly as serious as it could have been…several facial fractures, BUT…missed her eye socket, nasal cavity, and teeth. Lots of healing to do, and more visits to a facial specialist, but all recoverable. Phew!
