Lots of sunflowers planted in northeast Texas this season. Gorgeous flowing fields of them. The color is quite startling contrasted with the prevalent green and brown of our normal landscape.

The flowers change direction to face the light…and at any given time the entire field will be facing more or less the same direction.

This always tempts me to stop and talk to them…as they seem to pay rapt attention.

…and then of course…my reading education of the greats…recalls Larry Niven’s worlds…Ringworld in particular…and I wonder if these…like the sunflowers there…are concentrating on me simply because they’re trying to burn me to a cinder…

This IS Texas…it wouldn’t surprise me a bit. Pretty much everything else is trying to kill me…
