Where Angels Fear to Tread

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Something over 300 years ago an English poet named Alexander Pope said, “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.”
I’ve always liked the quote…simply because to me, it means “No limits.”
Angels have no fear, you see.
I’ve always tried to live my life without fear. Mostly, I’ve succeeded. I’d like to think so anyway.
No fear. [...]

Good news…Bad news.

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Interesting dealings are afoot…muhahahahaha! Yeah, that’s the good news. I’ll tell you about it later.
The bad news…I’ve got friends from the coast with homes that are damaged or destroyed. Some are minor…trees down and some lost shingles, some are more serious…missing roof and destroyed interior…some…well, some are just plain missing. One text message from [...]

Going back…

Friday, September 5th, 2008

About Saturday’s post…Yep, we’re going back to take another look.

Not sure why we torture ourselves so…
After all, if we weren’t looking, and didn’t find anything we liked in an (barely) achievable price range…then we wouldn’t be agonizing over decisions.
Hopefully, looking at it again will clinch things…one way or another.
I shouldn’t sweat the risk…after all, life [...]

Reach. Grasp. Fall?

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Must my reach always exceed my grasp? Must my dreams always push me beyond my current capabilities? Finiancial, equipment, time, market, employment…always, something is just not quite there.
Yeah, a dream is available. Yep, I could probably swing it for the purchase. It’s a small, friendlier town…off the mains…the perfect place to carry out my writing [...]

Mail Order Air (’cause, ya know…there might be a shortage)

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Our dishwasher was recently recalled. And by recalled, I mean they sent a repair guy out to replace the inner door panel and a bunch of wiring. This had to be done because, apparently, if we ran it just right…it would clean the dishes so thoroughly that it would burn the house down.
I don’t really [...]

If ya’ just gotta have a gate…

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Check out this gate!
I love this concept.

Thanks to Jim Murtagh for the pics!
Hmmm….
Plasma Cutter———check
Welder—————-check
Cut off saw———–check
Steel, muscle, blood—check
I’m thinkin’ I’ve just gotta build something like that. Now, if I can just figure out where I need a massive gate…

I’ll huff and I’ll puff….

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Seems there’s a little bit of urban renewal going on in east Texas. Mom and Mike’s place had a little storm Monday night.
Phoom! There goes the greenhouse!

Fortunately there’s no other damage. Now, if only it had blown further away (like, off the property)…

Life’s better when the drain works…

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Plumbing today…a good friend’s Dad’s house…the friend asked for help. Something about a missing floor. He’s a good friend. I didn’t pay much attention after the, “I could use some help…”
Showed up, saw the pile of old, broken, rotten lumber and the old vanity on the porch, along with the toilet. Even here in Texas, [...]

Slipping Away…

Monday, January 14th, 2008

I’m a bit frustrated lately…I can’t seem to get anything done.
Projects are piling up around the house.
The Dragon needs some maintenance. Bunnie, my best bud’s Goldwing is also stuffed in my garage needing some work.
Big Iron needs some tinkering even though I don’t drive her much, and even Crunchbird, the wife’s ride, needs [...]
