High here today was 80 degrees. Sure beats the 109 I rode in yesterday. Phew! Weird to be in a place that has 4 entire seasons!

It is time. I launched the site in 2003 (short stories were posted on other site/forums etc even before that).

When I’m done I’ll promote the blog engine to the actual website, replacing all my hand-coded html pages. (phew!)

The effect is that it will be easier and faster for me to post and edit stories/etc. Should result in more content here AND give me more time to work on the books.

Y’all will probably note some changes here and there, and some things that appear incomplete as I get the stuff moved around. I apologize for any inconvenience, but I’ll have everything back on track soon enough.

If you want to buy a few books in the mean-time, please do!

Going over the top, through Mackinaw City…

You know…just so I can sing, “Twelve hours out of Mackinaw City I stopped in a bar and had a brew…”

I figure that’s somewhere near the Iowa, Ill border…and that’s about 15 hours out of Dallas. Trying for at least that far tomorrow. I’ll definately need a brew about then…

Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan…yeah, it’s time to get out and run hard.

Oh, and I get to ride the Mackinac bridge. Love that thing. Here’s a pic from the last time I rode over it…that’s my friend James in front of me. I’m going solo this time.

It’s been a while, James. We need to change that…

Almost exactly 1500 miles, Dallas to Bellaire. The Valk’s ready to go. I suppose I ought to pack.

Maybe I’ll carry the laptop…it’s been having trouble getting started so it may be useless. Durn.

I’ll be gone a week…y’all be safe…if you see a fat guy riding hard on a Valkyrie, wave!

This year the 2010 Clarksville Fine Arts Festival will be Saturday, May 22, 2010, from 9:AM to 4:PM on the historic square in Clarksville, Texas.

This year’s festival is going to be a great one. The artists’ booths are all reserved! There will be glass blowing demonstrations, music, wood turning demonstrations, plenty of food, and a lot of talented artists to meet!

I’ll be there signing books and will also have original art, sketches, and some prints.

Art. Music. Food. Fun. What else could you need? Come on by and see me!

We’ll have a house full of guests, be mucking about the square all day Saturday, and we’ll be at the Wine and Cheese event Friday night as well.

It’s also a great excuse to get together with family and cook enough food to feed everybody twice!

It’s not a bad time to sit back a moment and think of something that you, in particular, are thankful for.

My life has been hard work, rewarded by wonderful things and amazing experiences. What am I thankful for? There’s so much, most years I don’t know where to start.

This year is easy. Really easy.

So what am I thankful for?

I’m thankful we got the call yesterday…

“Biopsy results–not malignant.”

It’s been a tense week.

In related news, I sent the wife out to get me a heating pad last week. Heat to the knee has been helpful.

The new heating pad has a serious flaw. If left on “high” it will cheerfully (and quickly) burn you (as in damaging burns) before it shuts off. I expect I could get it to burst into flames with little effort.

Guess where it’s made…yep, China. Claims it’s UL listed too. Yeah right.

It does make a handy cat-trap. When I turn it on and put it on my knee, suddenly I also have a 20-pound cat on my knee as well. It’s uncanny. “Click”. Cat. Should be listed as a side-effect!
