He'll never understand why we ride...  almost like that guy in NM - except that guy had ridden, you could tell.

See this

Sad part is we know this guy (well have worked with him anyways).

Daniel Meyer:
There is a growing trend...not just in anti-motorcyclists...but in general...to put everything to the "legitimate reason" test.

There's no legitimate reason to ...insert whatever here... so it should be restricted, regulated, banned, etc...

Who says I have to have a legitimate reason for anything? And just who gets to define exactly what a "legitimate reason" is anyway?

Sigh.

Daniel Meyer:
edit: wack my misplaced post...

Strom:
So whats so bad about what he wrote?
I agree with him on this one... more or less (not the gas prices crap).
I have a good friend who is in the same position:

-quote
I read those briefs with closer attention because, like most males, I have fantasized since boyhood about owning a motorcycle. Blame Steve McQueen in The Great Escape.

But this is one of the few areas in which my wife has exercised veto power. She is steadfast in refusing to allow any loved one on a motorcycle. And those morbid news briefs force me to see her side.
-end quote

I understand him, I even understand the SWMBOs worries, but that is something THEY have to figure out. If they cannot, they can go whine to Oprah or something.
He almost understands why we ride... doesnt matter if he has ridden a motorsykle before or not. He knows what is missing from his life. He knows why. He knows what he must do. He is afraid. His problem.

PS: These kinds of articles/posts/discussions always remind me of this one: http://www.msgroup.org/TIP053.html

Have to agree with Strom.  For the most part the writer pointed out what leads to a lot of motorcycle incidents...inattentive cagers, idiots on bikes, not wearing proper gear, inexperienced riders/lack of proper training.

I think he's using his wife's edict as an excuse not to ride because he's truly afraid.  Truly his problem.

Amazing the different perspectives we use to judge what we see and read.  Good thing cause it drives us to discussion.  Life would be pretty boring if we all had the same opinion. FUN
