Adverse Opinion,
Yeah, car tires seem to have several advantages over motorcycle tires, at least for those who use their bike as a couch. For long distance flat landers, the tire is fabulous. But for us mountain carvers, the Ct on the rear of my 1800 only slows me down. While I'm scraping pegs in swithbacks, the back tire is doing one thing and the front tire never agrees. The Tail of the Dragon will embarass anyone with a car tire. You simply can't lean as far without a squirly feel to both ends caused by the flat back. I was convinced that Ct was the way to go during my first 200 miles, but then I graduated to my favorite twisties, lost time and feel, then went back to my Dunlop MT's and picked up all the speed and feel the bike was meant to have. And as for braking; yes it seems that the bike can stop much quicker, but that same drag has an affect on acceleration off the line as well. The bike felt as if it lost 25 horsepower, but stopped like magic. I don't need any help stopping, especially at the expense of acceleration. Don't let cost be your guide. If you're a real rider, then stick to the proper tires. If you never ride hard, then enjoy the mileage and feel benefits of the CT.

The Tail of the Dragon will embarass anyone with a car tire.

Now, what is it they say about opinions?HuhHuh  Mine is no better but I switched to a CT 8 yrs ago and never looked back.  I've been on the Tail of the Dragon, the Pig Trail, and many other aggresive roads scraping chrome and only slipped one time.  That was on the Cherahola Skyway and it was at a tire snake early in the morning.

I  bought my first Goldwing (used 03) July 09'. I had always wanted one but figured they were just to expense for me.I needed a bigger bike and back seat so I could get my wife out for a ride. But then it happened a guy my wifes work with had one for sale Black with 55 k miles on it and all he wanted was 5k for it. Everyone I have told of this says I stole it. Guess so. Well one month after I bought the bike  I ran into a fellow Darksider here in Pearland Texas. I said what's that, and he said look under the rear fender. What the hell is that I said. With little explanation he said go look up the Darkside and make up your on mind. Well I did (Goodyear Triple Tread 205/55/16) and what a ride. 3K later and I could not be happier. Sure is fun watching and listening to peoples points of view. lol. As for cornering, I might have to replace the pegs before I replace the tire LMAO. Now the front tire issue. Battlax BT 45 placed on the rim in reverse? We are taking out first long distance trip through SD to CA and back to Texas this summer. Thanks Darkside!
